Literary critic, librarian acquire Lake City 3BD

Medium e8fdfa1fe92c6a0d6c6b0b63dff5054b Sunand T. Joshi and Leslie Joshi bought a three-bedroom, 1.5-bath at 12545 19th Ave. N.E. in Lake City from Kristi A. Morgansen for $410,000 on April 2.

Morgansen paid $320,000 for the property in July 2004. The 2,010-square-foot home was built in 1936.

Mr. Joshi is a literary critic based in Seattle. He focuses his study and writing on authors of weird and fantastic fiction such as Howard Phillips Lovecraft, Ambrose Bierce, H. L. Mencken, Lord Dunsany, Algernon Blackwood and M.R. James, among others.

He has written a number of books including H. P. Lovecraft: A Life, The Weird Tale, The Modern Weird Tale and The Evolution of the Weird Tale. He also serves as editor of literary journals Lovecraft Studies, Studies in Weird Fiction, Studies in the Fantastic and Lovecraft Annual. He is also co-editor of Dead Reckonings.

In addition to literary criticism, Joshi has also edited books on atheism and social relations including
Documents of American Prejudice, In Her Place and Atheism: A Reader. He authored an anti-religious polemic against various writers titled God's Defenders: What They Believe and Why They Are Wrong and has published The Angry Right: Why Conservatives Keep Getting It Wrong, a critique of the political writings of commentators the thinkers such as William F. Buckley, Jr., Russell Kirk and Rush Limbaugh.

He received his bachelor’s degree and his master’s degree from Brown University. He also attended a Ph.D. program at Princeton University.

Mrs. Joshi is director of Powers Library in Moravia, N.Y.

She attended the University of Washington School of Library and Information Science.

Morgansen is an assistant professor in the aeronautics and astronautics department and an adjunct professor in electrical engineering at the University of Washington.

She previously was a senior research fellow in control and dynamical systems at the California Institute of Technology.

She received a B.S. and an M.S. in mechanical engineering from Boston University. She also received an S.M. in applied mathematics and a Ph.D. in engineering sciences from Harvard University.

There were 146 sales in Lake City in 2008, with a median sales price of $357,000.
